The jack in the UPS may easily use a 8 pin RJ45 connector.
For the 8-pin RJ45 version of the cable (same number convention, except only 8 pins) :

4 : shield
5 : USB GND (BLACK) (NOTE : I'm not really sure of that one, and anyway the cable works fine with this pin unconnected...
7 : USB data -
8 : USB data +
According to this pinout, rj-45 connector should be fitted and aligned to the right side of receptacle?
