SlimCD SATA connections
« on: April 09, 2009, 22:48:01 »
After a little hands-on research I've learned that SlimCD drives like those in laptops that have SATA connections use a different pinout than standard SATA drives. The data cable is the same, the difference is in the power connection. Instead of 15 pins only the first 6 are used. 3.3v is replaced by 5v for the first 3 pins. So it goes [#1 - 5v, #2 - 5v, #3 - 5v, #4 - GND, #5 - GND, #6 - GND].

If someone could update the SATA power connection page to show this that would be great.
