Title: USB-DB9 converter: need of a coss over cable?
Post by: atourail on Nov 09, 2006, 11:04
I used to connect my former PC (playing the role of a console) through the serial port (DB9) to some other device.
Depending on the type of equipment, I needed sometimes to use a straight through or a cross over cable.
Now I am using a PC with only USB port. So now I need to use a USB-DB9 converter.
The question is:
Will I still need a device to cross over the serial connection?
Or is the USB-DB9 converter smart enough to detect if there is a need of cross over?

You'll ned an usb to serial converter.
Something like this http://pinouts.ru/SerialPortsCables/usb_serial_adapter_pinout.shtml :)
