Title: Mini 8 pin to Usb 4 pin
Post by: Musicman41 on Oct 13, 2007, 14:07
Hi there

Like to ask again,

Is there someone out here who knows how to wire a mini 8 pin Din (mac) to a 4 pin USb.

USB look at ( http://pinouts.ru/SerialPortsCables/usb_cable_pinout.shtml )
Mini 8 Pin Din ( http://pinouts.ru/SerialPorts/sgi8_pinout.shtml )

Is there a scheme for it ???

Tnx John

USB can't just be pin-adapted to other signal types. The 8-pin DIN on an old Mac is an RS422 serial connector, so you need a protocol converter chip that will give your USB-equipped computer such a port.
