pin 1 on 44-pin 2.5 inch pata hard drives

on 44-pin 2.5 inch pata hard drives, is pin 1 always on the end of the 44-pin array that's closest to the master/slave/cable_select jumpers?

I'd expect it would be the same as on a 3.5 inch drive (we're talking about the humongous ribbon cables, right?) and I would simply refer to the pinless point for my 1 or my 44... but I'm just a kid, so I'm not sure I know what I'm talking about... ???
