My western digital my passport external hard disk (2,5", SATA disk, usb interface, last model)
stop to work last week (it looks like it has not enough current to start and in fact it's not detected by any OS on different machines).
In order to rescue my data, I've opened the case, expecting a standard sata port to connect with, but I didn't found it. Besides the usb connection it has only a 12 pin connection (looks like an IDE connection with 12 pin only) and other two isolated pins.
Does anybody know which connections are these?

Thank you greatly in advance

Sometimes they combine power and data over one plug using an adaptor. You should be able to pull this adaptor off the hard drive, and place it in a new caddy.

It's not difficult you just put it normally. Because this SATA is modern that have to in put :
1 is SATA input
2 is IDE input   y b b r

you should know that Y+B=+12v,RED+BLACK=+5V

The drive was working perfect. After a little drop (was streaming a mpeg wireless connected to a Macbook with win7 and videolan and streaming via wlan to a dreambox, so it was reading..) the drive was fine... but after 10 minutes after dropping stopped to stream. I detached the drive then reconnect, but windows didn't recognize the drive. (no sound of spinning disc) after some plug of usb the drive was badly recognized only the smartware virtual cd drive, but not the hdd. (i could hear the spinning sound with a repeated sound of reading). After that isertion, no more sound from drive. I tried to plug to different cpu, with powered hub too, tried also to change the usb cable but nothing.

if i plug the white led blink fast, then set to fixed light for 4 second, and the blink again but slow.
The device is not discovered or any sound come. The drive become little heated (normal) after some minutes of power.

thanks in advance for any help suggested

(remove the +)

added also a complete photo of the pcb.
I'm thinking of swap the pcb with another one of another new wd passport 500gb.

another test. I've detached the PCB above the drive, then I insert the USB cable in the PCB with no HDD. The led is no more blinking, but Windows doesn't recognize anything (nothing happens).
Then with the pcb board plugged in USB and led lit, I've pushed the PCB to the drive, and some weird sound has come from... like click and something like beep....

Nothing happens on windows in peripherals....
