The previous version of this page states, There is report that 1+6 doesn't enable audio out and does not disable internal speakers. 5+6 do.
Through a basic test, I have verified that, at least on model AGS-101, shorting pin 1 to 6 does disable the internal speaker, while shorting 5 and 6 just makes audio louder, and might be harmful to the amplifier. There is a 10 Ohm resistance between Audio GND and main Ground. Additionally, both audio channels will play without the internal speaker muted.
On the original DS, Audio GND is isolated from main Ground and will not work to mute the internal speakers. The DS also still plays audio out this port without the internal speakers muted.
