Hello!
I have a Lepan II tablet and I want to charge it in the car.
It has a connector similar to the iPad, with a USB connector on the other end going into a little 2A power brick cube, just like the iPad.
I bought a 2A USB charging plug for the car, and connected the USB plug, but it won't charge. It shows the "Connected to computer" icon.

Any ideas how I can modify the cable so it will charge?

Thanks!

May be this will help.

Here is   LePan II TC979 30-Pin Connector PinOut -  https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QT4JqV4SClVtr7lyWQbloKEbRr5NyZSCikcaPASSTo8/edit

Alex, take another look at this -  http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=845844
Here about Galaxy Tab but the principle in my opinion is the same.
If you decide to problem, please write to me.

Because I ordered  Lepan II too.

Cool! Thank you!
I wonder if the LePan II is like the Apple (data lines tied together only) or like the Tab (requires resistors).
I guess we'll have to try. I'm swamped right now, but I will post results when I get to try it.
Thanks!

Well, I just tested it. What you have to do for the LePan II is tie the two data lines together - no resistors.
So it's very easy! I took a USB extension cable I had ($1 at Dollar Tree!), cut it to a shorter size, and tied positive to positive, ground to ground, left the two data wires disconnected on the power supply side, and tied the two data wires together on the LePan side. Voila!
Now you have an adapter, so you connect the LePan USB cable to one end,  and the power supply to the other. In my case, this is a car adapter I bought at Walmart for $12 (i-xt) that supplies 2A on one connector. It also has a 1A connector for another toy.

Note that to make it even easier, you should carefully cut the insulation on the extension cable and leave the positive and ground cables intact. Just cut the two data cables and join the two on the LePan side and you're done. Of course, you have to figure out which is which.

Have fun!
